The blue smart ip65 chargers are rugged and well bult on its own. But, since this is the type of charger that is portable and you most probably will handle and move it alot, I would say this rubber is a necessity. Not only does it offer protection and absorb shocks but the rubber offers a non slip. Highly recommend 👌

This cover fits my 12/15 charger perfect. Its great that victron makes this for the charger, as it will now remain protected regardless of where is being used. Great one.
